A quick word from Galapagos
Ah, the Galapagos Islands...the most beautiful place in the world, I would like to declare. I have been here now for nearly 4 days, and I can tell why some never leave. Each day, I get off the boat on a different island and see amazing wildlife (which do not have any reason to steer clear of humans, and therefore, literally stand at your feet...even the blue footed boobies---haha, still funny), snorkel in the most fantastic sites, and enjoy picturesque views. Since these islands are part of the national park of Galapagos, there is no human disturbance or development. I have already swam with sharks (vegetarian sharks, do not worry), sea lions, and fantastic fish, seen tons of boobies and giant turtles, and I still have nearly 4 days left. Today, I visited the Charles Darwin Research Center in Puerta Ayora, which I found to be next to a real town...with stores, restaurants, and alas, internet. So, here´s a word from the islands.
I will write more, in the traditionally detailed style, upon my return to Quito. And hey, where did all those people who used to comment on my blog go? I miss you guys. And, to those who never commented on the blog, I miss you too.

Hi Marci ... aren't the blue footed boobies fab! Glad to read that your trip to the Galapagos sounds as great as ours was.
Thanks for the recommendation of the Churup hostel in Huaraz ..just got back from 4 days hiking in the Cordillera Blanca and just like your Inca Trek, we were rained upon for 3 of the 4 days ... and without ponchos, even the stuff in our daypacks was soaked! Inspite of the rain, we had a great time, but couldn't see all the peaks due to the cloud.
We heading back to Lima tomorrow and hope to see Kique & co at the CCS house and to visit Jacci and Tony at Los Martincitos.
Look forward to hearing about your trip to Chile!

Dear Ian and Gen,
I did love the blue footed boobies. The islands were fantastic...an amazing experience. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed Churup and your wet time in the Cordillera Blanca, despite the magnitude of rain (isn´t the rainy season supposed to be ending soon?). Huaraz ended up being one of my favorite stops in Peru. And, thanks to you for the hostel recommendation in Quito...I really have enjoyed my stay at Posada del Maple.
Send my best to Kique, Aida, Jacci, and Tony, and I will of course write more from Santiago.
Take care, and safe travels.
Marci

Hi Mom!
I am sorry that you had so many meetings too...it will be sad if I call in the sporadic nature that I have to from now on and you always have meetings. You should bring your phone on vibrate. Anyway, all is well and it was a fantastic trip. I will speak to you soon.
Love, Marci
